Membership satisfaction

Your opinion counts 2016

Afera’s 2016 Membership Satisfaction Survey indicates that the Association is on the right track in meeting its mission to add the greatest value possible to our members’ businesses. 60% of Afera’s membership responded; adhesive tape manufacturers (33) and raw materials suppliers (20) made up the largest groups of respondents.

Here is what they think:

  • “Networking within the Association is important” and “The adhesive tape industry needs representation” were the most heavily weighted statements.
  • 94% of respondents rated membership in Afera a 3 or 4 out of 4.
  • “Networking possibilities with important industry players” and “Information, co-operation and representation on matters of European and global standardisation” were confirmed as very important aspects of membership. The next most important items were attendance of Afera events and access to market research data.
  • 20% of respondents have attended more than 20 Afera events.
  • Most respondents want Afera’s Annual Conference to be held in Italy in autumn. The highest-rated cities for holding events were Barcelona, Munich, Amsterdam, London, Rome and Brussels. (Next year’s 60th Conference will be held in Turin in October; 2018’s 1st International Technical Seminar will be held in Munich.)
  • Market data, technology (products, applications, innovation, test methods), raw materials, economic trends and environmental regulation are the most popular subjects for papers at events.
  • More than half of respondents indicated that they would be willing to invest time in one of Afera’s committees.
  • 78% gave Afera’s website a 3, 3.5 or 4 out of 4 for content and user-friendliness.
  • Many respondents are also members of FEICA, PSTC and IVK.

Your opinion counts 2012

Afera conducted a survey of its Members, potential Members and even former Members in order to gain valuable insight into the organisations and industry it serves and represents.
The Association’s last Membership Satisfaction Survey was conducted in 2004. Feedback indicated that most Afera Members were very satisfied with the cost-benefits of Afera membership and with the general direction in which the Association was moving.

Consumer and business demands, companies and technologies are continually evolving. Afera aims to move alongside—if not ahead of—the self-adhesive tape industry by anticipating the needs of market players and producers and market trends. Key players in the tape industry, including regional counterpart associations, are increasingly looking to Afera to take the lead, especially where standardisation is concerned.

Survey 2004

Since moving its Secretariat from Paris to Lejeune Association Management in The Hague in 1999, Afera as an organisation has grown and developed very positively. This is according to regular feedback from the Steering Committee, veteran members of Afera, and most recently, an Afera Membership Satisfaction Survey conducted for the first time at the end of 2004.

The independent agency EIM Stratus distributed the six-language survey electronically to Afera’s entire membership on 8 October 2004. With 58% of members responding—considered a strong turnout—the survey indicated through its feedback report that most Afera members are very satisfied with the cost-benefits of Afera membership and with the general direction in which the Association is moving.
