Afera completes Statutes modernisation as November General Assembly approaches

Posted on:

The updated Statutes are now formally in place, with broader Member voting rights taking effect ahead of Afera’s 69th General Assembly and nominations open for a Steering Committee position.

Afera has completed the formal modernisation of its Statutes. The notarial deed was executed on 15 September 2026, the approved amendments have been incorporated into the consolidated Statutes, and the final updated text has now been published on the Association’s Become a Member page.

This completes the legal process following the Extraordinary General Assembly (EGA) of 3 June 2026, at which eligible Members approved a focused package of governance updates. As reported by Afera Insights in September, the amendments extend voting rights to Tape Manufacturer, Supplier and Converter Members, broaden eligibility for the Presidency and Vice-Presidency within the Steering Committee (SC) and modernise selected terms and procedures. The changes bring Afera’s formal governance framework into closer alignment with its role as a platform for the European adhesive tape value chain while preserving its fundamental Member-led structure.

69th General Assembly: Broader participation in practice

The next opportunity for Members to exercise their governance role comes on Thursday, 26 November 2026, from 15.00 to 16.00 CET, when Afera holds its 69th Annual General Assembly online. As the Association’s formal Member meeting, the GA brings together organisational, financial and strategic matters, including the SC’s activities and policy direction, financial reporting and priorities for 2027.

Importantly, this will be the first Annual General Assembly under the amended Statutes, with Tape Manufacturer, Supplier and Converter Members now holding voting rights on a one Member Company, one vote basis. Participation is limited to Afera Member Companies, with official notices, Meeting documents and voting information available through the Members-only General Assembly page in due course.

Steering Committee nominations open until 30 October

The transition to Afera’s updated governance framework also coincides with an opportunity for Members to contribute directly to the Association’s leadership. On 20 October, Afera Secretary General Astrid Lejeune emailed all Tape Manufacturer Member Companies inviting nominations for one vacant Tape Manufacturer representative position on the Steering Committee.

The voluntary position carries a three-year term and involves participation in two regular SC meetings annually, occasional virtual meetings and active contributions to Afera’s strategic direction and decision-making. The SC plays a central role in shaping the Association’s priorities, overseeing its activities and finances, and ensuring that Afera continues to represent the interests of the European adhesive tape industry. The vacancy offers an engaged industry professional an opportunity to contribute expertise, fresh perspectives and practical ideas.

Tape Manufacturer Members wishing to nominate themselves or an agreed candidate should contact Astrid Lejeune at alejeune@lejeune.nl by Friday, 30 October 2026, providing the candidate’s name, company, position, short professional profile and motivation for contributing to Afera. In accordance with the Statutes, nominations will be reviewed by the current SC, with approved candidates presented for election at the General Assembly on 26 November.
