Today, the European Parliament's leading Environment Committee (ENVI) voted on amendments to the Commission's proposal for an EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR).
The vote had been eagerly awaited because, unexpectedly for many, Italian shadow rapporteurs Massimiliano Salini (for the conservative EPP group) and Pietro Fiocchi (ECR group) had tabled their own proposals a few days earlier, opposing many of the Commission's proposed packaging bans and calling for more exemptions from the reuse quotas.
